PRESENTATION

Your Personal Secrets and Pass Keys for presenting Winning Colors® Effectively and Productively

If you are presenting Winning Colors®, it is good pedagogy to begin by   going around the group and ask them to introduce themselves. Ask them to indicate what they expect or would like to learn from the workshop. (Take notes so you can respond to their needs and customize Winning Colors® to the group.)

Always customize the Winning Colors® process to these needs.

When presenting Winning Colors® always identify the crucial needs of the person or corporation. Use a feedback listening process.

Personal Example: Dealing with violence, communication with others, leadership skills.

Secondly pick out some of these expectations along with several phrases on Page 14 of the Winning Colors® Power Pack. Insert  these expectations and phrases into the following framework:

"IF I WERE TO SHOW YOU A WAY on how to get along with others WOULD THIS BE OF VALUE TO YOU?"

"IF I WERE TO SHOW YOU A WAY on how to motivate yourself and others WOULD THIS BE OF VALUE TO YOU."

Pick out 5 or 6 of these phrases pertinent to the group as a buy in.

It is crucial that you have the card sort as quickly as possible as the participants understand little until they have the visual, tactile and audio explanation of the card sort. Note this process registers in different parts of the brain at the same time. Use visual, audio and tactile learning styles to explain the significance of the cards as follows (This is illustrated graphically in the Winning Colors® Instructor’s video.

a) “How many of you are capable of thinking?” Wait for them to hold up their hands. Then ask them to hold up the green card and say: “The green card signifies the Planning and Thinking Part of Me.” Follow this statement with: “What does the Green Card signify?” The group responds: “The Planning or Thinking Part of Me.”

b) “How many of you are capable of leading and managing your life?” Wait for them to hold up their hands. Then ask them to hold up the brown card and say: “The brown card signifies the Builder and Leading Part of Me.” Follow this statement with: “What does the Brown Card signify?” The group responds: “The Builder or Leader Part of Me.”

c) “How many of you are capable of team building and emotions?” Wait for them to hold up their hands. Then ask them to hold up the blue card and say: “The blue card signifies the Relater and Team Building Part of Me.” Follow this statement with: “What does the Blue Card signify?” The group responds: “The Relater or Team Building Part of Me.”

d) “How many of you are capable of action?” Wait for them to hold up their hands. Then ask them to hold up the red card and say: “The red card signifies the Adventurer and Action Part of Me.” Follow this statement with: “What does the Red Card signify?” The group responds: “The Adventurer or Action Part of Me.”

The first time you may need to repeat the statement a) a couple of times until the group understand how to respond.

It is crucial to emphasize over and over again in different ways that    we are all four.

The secret for successful presentations is to change the pace with humor and examples. Use video clips to make the above points.

Always use the words behavioral strengths or clusters of behaviors because we can see behavioral change.  Most personality assessments “type cast” you and slot you into a psychological straight jacket of inborn traits.

The goal of Winning Colors®, is to be able to bring up the winning behaviors for the particular situation.

A Plan of Action is crucial. There must be not only “talk the talk” but “walk the walk!” State that “You are now aware of the Winning Colors® process.” With this awareness, the question becomes: “What is the practical application of this new awareness.” Use the diagram of awareness, plan of action and results (as in the leadership and team building instructor’s manual) as it gives structure and order to the procedure. Have the participants, to the degree they are willing, present their plan of action to the group. Copy them and refer to these points during the sessions.
